What to bring

Altay is not a simple region - climate is severe. Though there are real oases, where people manage to grow up various southern plants, vegetables and fruits. The climate in Altay is unpredictable. It might be raining (the amount of rain differs from year to year), wind, or sun and very dry weather, over dry...

The range of temperature is also big, from -1C (August, night time) to +30C (July, day time). Knowing this, here is a list of things that we recommend you to have. Some of them you may buy in Novosibirsk or some other big city you are traveling through, if you know that you'll have time.

- Warm sleeping bag. Another possibility is two thin sleeping bags.

- A tent to sleep in the first 3 days of the project and when you need more privacy. In the first days of the project we will build our own doms, so during this time you will need your own tent to sleep. If you don't have it, let us know. During the 2 months program we offer you to sleep in the Dom, but sometimes you might need your own space and sleep in your tent.- Mat for sleeping in the tent and for body practices.

- Clothes: don't worry if you take too much. It is better if you use only part of it, than if you miss something...

a) Clothes for movement and dancing classes. Knee pads might be suitable sometimes. Warm and thin socks.

b) Clothes for work (something that you don't regret if you spoil it).

c) Warm clothes for the case of the Ice Age coming, including scarf.

d) Waterproof shoes. Rubber boots is REALLY the best version. Sandals or gym shoes or sneakers for dry weather, depends on your taste. Many people are ok to walk barefoot in this area of the world.

e) GOOD raincoat, or rain suit.

f) Gloves for cold and for work might be needed.

g) A hat for keeping your head warm - recommended, and some bandana for protecting it from the sun - if you are used to use it.

h) Towel, some warm soft clothes for sleeping. You might even enjoy having a bed sheet.

- Something that helps you to create your personal space, if you are the person that needs it.

- Musical instruments, if you play them.

- Books or articles you want to share with others.

- Tools for writing and drawing.

- Your meal tools: cup, plate, spoon, fork...

- It is good to have a comfortable little bag or small backpack to carry your things around, to always have some warm things to put on and take off...

- A thermos is always good, so you can have your hot tea whenever you want it.- Hygienic things that you normally use. We invite you to bring ecological ones!

- Torch.

- Small medicine kit with the things you normally use, including a roll of plaster, and some skin healing remedy, against burns and cuts.

We're gonna organize a place for drying the things.

The mosquitoes are rarely met in the ecovillage, but there are acarid. Normally we don't use any repellents against them. We are gonna organize an insurance against the acarid for every participant, it costs a little bit of money, but just in case, it is good to have.

If you're gonna miss something, it is possible to buy in a big village 22km from ChaChjaevka. But still we recommend you to get ready before you come.

There is no mobile connection in our place. But there is a radio-telephone that you may use in case of strong need.We have some internet connection that is not stable and depends on the weather, so please don't expect to use wifi there.

The electricity is from solar panels, and it is quite limited, so please consider to have a good rest from using electronic devices during the project. Or bring a portable solar panel for your device. Still, having a photocamera might be good.
